Past Pantone colors of the year have been vibrant and eclectic; Marsala, the shade of brocade wallpaper in an old saloon; Radiant Orchid similar to purple highlighter, only used once yellow, green, and blue are lost; Tangerine Tango the red painted sky at night, sailors delight. In 2016, Pantone took an agrarian approach, for the first time introducing two new colors of the year instead of one: Serenity and Rose Quartz. Unlike their predecessors, last year’s array offered unfiltered colors found along a country road. Surveying bold trends when choosing a wedding color scheme can be fun (Coral and Mimosa, who knew?) but also counter-productive with abundance. Trends are a snapshot in time whereas nature never goes out of style. Pantone recently announced their 2017 color of the year: Greenery. Chippy Chicks are HUGE fans of greens (you may have noticed our fern obsession,) the color is nature’s neutral, symbolizing growth and vitality. The Northeast is surrounded by lush, verdant Appalachian forest; Greenery elicits the response for us to close our eyes and take a deep breath in.
Before it rains, soil releases a natural oil that carries the scent of sweet earth into the air. Once the balmy air fills our lungs, the redolence conjures images of a dreamy green mist. Allyson and Kyle’s wedding was the smell before it rains; peaceful green hues connote celestial English moors illustrated in fairy tales.

Sally made an appearance, her mossy green upholstery symbolic of nature. The table setting featured hunter plates trimmed with flakes of gold and matching cutlery a top ivory silk napkins. The goblets suffused sparkling evergreen like frosted pine needles, accentuating the distressed wood table top's russet undertones.
Allyson and Kyle’s wedding had heart, reflected in their personalized, handmade touches. Buttons in assorted shapes and colors pinned into braids of Allyson’s hair and her bouquet, and a wooden button sewed onto Kyle’s boutonnière. Their topper was two happy gnomes with rosy cheeks adorned up on a tiered, naked cake piped with white flowers.
We were excited to learn of Allyson’s profession as a librarian. Housed on our Chippy shelves is an anthology of vintage books in a sundry of colors. Incorporating books into a table scape is a way for guests to engage by flipping through pages and rediscovering forgotten childhood favorites. For Allyson and Kyle, we used green, hardbound books to add literary charm.
Allyson and Kyle’s storybook wedding reflected the spirit of romanticism retold in old folklore.
